A man has been jailed for more than 14 years after pouring boiling water over an officer as she tried to arrest him.
John Davies was confronted by police in his garden in Birmingham, where he had cornered a man against the fence.
Davies, 58, suddenly became incensed, throwing a hot drink at his victim after he told officers Davies had a knife, which he denied.
Questioned by a female officer over whether he had a weapon, he said: ‘Search me’.
He then threw the contents of a hot kettle at the policewoman, leaving her with blisters over her shoulders, neck and back.
In footage of the incident, she is heard screaming: ‘I need an ambo. I’ve been scalded with a kettle.’
Davies also punched her colleague in the face, and it took several officers to finally detain him.
He later admitted to maliciously wounding the police constable in a bid to resist arrest, as well as assaulting the man he attacked in the garden.
After appearing at Birmingham Crown Court, Davies was sentenced to 14 years and six months in jail on Friday.
DC Manpreet Sidhu said: ‘This was a horrendous attack on two officers going about their duties.
‘You can see from the footage that Davies put up a struggle, and it took many officers to restrain him so that he could be brought into custody.
