Donald Trump’s joke about his two adult sons during a library inauguration left the audience gobsmacked.
The US president made the bizarre remark on Wednesday afternoon during a Congressional Medal of Honour ceremony in North Dakota ahead of the 4th of July celebrations.
The crowds at the new Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library laughed awkwardly as Trump’s joke failed to land.
The POTUS, donning a white USA cap, said: ‘As I see my two beautiful sons sitting there, I think I’m going to give one to myself and one to them.
‘I’ll pick out one of the two. I’ll give them the Congressional medal of honour for something…for their genius at hunting.
He suggested it was ‘dangerous’ to joke because of the ‘fake news is up there.’
‘When I joke…I learned earlier, don’t be sarcastic in politics,’ he added.
Trump has been embroiled in the Iran war for months, a conflict he started with Israel in February.
