A German soccer fan has gone viral over his journey to the United States for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and it’s safe to say he’s a real American “foodie” now.

The fan, named Freddy, has documented his travels on his X account, @FreddyLA7, and has amassed more than 358,000 followers and attention from some top U.S. officials.

He shares pictures and videos of all the stops he makes along the way as he travels to watch the soccer matches.

He has been to Buc-ee’s, Chili’s, Chipotle, and even tried a Freddy’s restaurant, saying, “Lol I gotta eat here.”

One post on X that garnered national attention showed a picture of a Taco Bell.

“The holy land,” he captioned it.

A pair of images shows the outside of a Taco Bell, along with an array of items, including a Baja Blast, nacho chips and cheese, what looks like a burrito, and packaging for a Crunchwrap Supreme.

He replied to a comment on the post and said Taco Bell is “One of the main reasons for me to travel to the USA.”

He also posted about his first Waffle House experience, which got 7 million views.

“Just had our first Waffle House experience at 1am. Great food, great prices, and friendly staff. 10/10, we will be coming back,” Freddy said.

ESPN even posted some of the fan’s travels, highlighting his stop at Waffle House.

Freddy also shared pictures of the American landscape, showing off sunsets and lush forests across the country.

He visited Georgia and Tennessee, where he posted photos saying, “Atlanta is so green it’s crazy. It feels like you’re in a forest the whole time.”

The post has received 6 million views.

He also voiced his support for country music artist Ella Langley during his trip.

“The best discovery of our road trip has been a musician called Ella Langley. We had never heard of her before, but after hearing her on pretty much every country radio station, we’ve become big fans. She’s basically the soundtrack of our trip,” he said.

The song he was listening to, “I Can’t Love You Anymore,” features Ella Langley and Morgan Wallen. The song is sitting at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. Two other Langley songs are within the top five.

Shortly after, he posted in Fairhope, Alabama. He shared a video of the sunset, saying, “I could live here,” and that the “Camera doesn’t do it any justice. Sunset looked way better.”

In a video shared from Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) said on X it is where Freddy can see “Some of the best beaches in the world.”

The State Department reposted one of Freddy’s images in Tennessee, saying, “Welcome to the Volunteer State. The United States of America is the most beautiful country in the world, and we’re happy you’re visiting.”

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy also commented on Freddy’s travels and reposted his account.

“HAVE YOU SEEN THIS? Meet FREDDY, he’s a German soccer fan in the U.S. for the World Cup and he is experiencing the BEAUTY of America from the road,” Duffy said.

“There’s no better way to see our country than on a road trip! Because to LOVE AMERICA you have to SEE AMERICA. Where should Freddy go next?”
