‘You can’t be pro-insurrection and pro-cop’: Biden rips Trump to black law enforcement

After being careful about what he said regarding the Jan. 6 House committee, President Joe Biden raised the Capitol attack during an address to black law enforcement officers.

“The police were heroes that day. Donald Trump lacked the courage to act,” Biden told the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives Conference on Monday. “You can’t be pro-insurrection and pro-cop. You can’t be pro-insurrection and pro-democracy. You can’t be pro-insurrection and pro-American.”

UNDER 30%? BIDEN’S DECLINING APPROVAL CASTS SHADOW OVER MIDTERM ELECTIONS

The bipartisan committee’s first round of public hearings concluded last week, with a second series expected this September before November’s midterm elections. Trump and Republicans have criticized Biden for being soft on crime.

Biden was scheduled to make the remarks in person during a trip to Orlando and Tampa, Florida, but his plans were canned after he tested positive for COVID-19.

The White House remains adamant that Biden’s COVID-19 diagnosis will not disrupt his responsibilities as the Democratic Party’s standard-bearer 100-odd days before the midterm cycle. In line with that, Biden dedicated part of his prerecorded NOBLE speech to scrutinizing other possible Republican 2024 presidential candidates, including Gov. Ron DeSantis and Sens. Rick Scott and Marco Rubio, all of Florida.

Lawmakers who “oppose banning assault weapons” make being a police officer more difficult because they are undermining public safety, according to Biden.
